YESTERDAY – SUNDAY, January 16, 2011.
The first annual 239 DAY brought Southwest Floridians to Forever Tattoo in Cape Coral for 23 dollar and 90 cent tattoos. Forever Tattoo and TwoThreeNine.com wanted to host a charitable event unique to our area. Patrons chose from 15 different 239-themed tattoo designs, and the American Cancer Association received $5 from every tattoo.
From SE 47th Terrace you see the event tent in front of the tattoo parlour and sidewalk chalk designs advertising the big sale. An elaborate spread of baked goods, beverages and veggie hot dogs were for sale while 239ers waited for their turn. The day began at noon and the buzz of tattoo machines was consistent throughout the day.
Several wanted the 239 boar design including our staff member Cristina, while only one tough guy took the brutal bloody 239 mosquito. I kept it classy with the area code scrawled on my ribs, sitting for one of Mark Stewart’s last tattoos of the day. However, of the whole day my favorite tattoo belongs to Shannon Greel. As one of our featured hotties for ‘Too Fine, 239!’ she made her title permanent, complete with sparkles!
TwoThreeNine Staff Photographers Kable Grey and David Marsh were both present to capture the excitement of our first community event, and even our local FOX 4 News came out to interview Mark and film the shop. We were happy to get a mention on the evening news, and there are some sweet pictures already up on our Facebook page.
THANK YOU to Forever Tattoo and Mark Stewart for doing this day with us, being talented and really cool people. THANK YOU to my Staff at TwoThreeNine, because it would not have happened without you. THANK YOU to everyone who came and hung out, and to everyone who got tattooed. THANK YOU to everyone who promoted, and the people who had intentions of coming. It was an awesome time, so be sure to come out next time every time.
MORE GREAT THINGS TO COME! INCLUDING new Too Fine, 239! feature, the twice monthly Stitch ‘n Bitch and the Barter Fair at Cool Hand Luc’s, Valentine’s Mix CD Mixer and READER CONTESTS in the month of February!
Love, Billy Table
