One of the least common things you may hear walking around FGCU campus is, “Hey, how’s your prostate?”
However, FGCU Students Dylan Reublin and Max Arnall‘s goal is to get men and those who love them to start thinking about their health and well-being. In association with the Livestrong Foundation, The Movember project began in Melbourne, Australia in 1999. The project’s symbol of the mustache represents the ceremonious shaving of the face and facial hair growing effort that happens all throughout the month of November. Participants, or Mo Bros as they are called, must preen their facial hair growth into a mustache and collect donations in support of the organization.
Arnall wanted to support the cause, and bring the issue to the local metal scene. “We chose a metal show instead of a 5K or an orchestral show. It’s easy for us to be super passionate about it, and we want to have fun with it.” It’s their first year of organizing the shows, but the team hopes to get bigger and bigger each year. “Everyone who knows about it seems excited about it, and we hope to get the community as involved as possible.”
The two shows this weekend at Cool Hand Luc’s and Rack ‘Ems Billiards. There will be raffles with prizes from Forever Tattoo and local businesses. The drink promotions at the Rack ‘Ems show includes a customized pint glass with mustaches printed on them – buy one and half off drafts all night.
Show your support by coming to the shows this weekend, and liking Metal 4 Mustaches on Facebook
