…Coating the world
with their chocolate-covered
folk music…
The Sity is a new local indie/folk band. The band members are Jordan Gulbronson, Wesley Opauski, and Marissa Yanoti. Jordan and Wesley have been playing music together since grade school. In December of 2011, Marissa Yanoti a local drummer, started to collaborate with Wesley and Jordan. Cool Hand Lucs invited them to play and ever since then this sweet trio has fallen in love with performing as The Sity! Some of the bands they draw inspiration from are Pegasus Bridge, Local Natives, Boniver, ACDC, Queen, and Jimmy Hendrix. Twothreenine got an exclusive sneak peak into the lives of Jordan and Wesley from the Sity:
If your music were a food, what would it be?
Chocolate Covered Pretzels because it is sweet and salty; Even if you have too much of it, it won’t give you a tummy ache!
What are some local performers you look up to?
Lately Lucid, Wholetones, Man on Wire.
Do you have any goals you have yet to achieve as a band?
Getting Famous!?? but more importantly blending together as a band when creating music.
Name a few things that inspire the lyrics to the songs:
We like to say our music is Imagery Influenced.
What has been your biggest accomplishment as musicians?
Our song writing and our musical dynamics are improving. We have become more open minded. We have learned to let the feel of the song take control of what it wants to be.
Personal Goals for Wesley and Jordan:
Attend Full Sail for Recording Arts.
Any Upcoming shows? Aug 17th at Music Walk & Aug 25th at the Manna Reading Center.
You can catch The Sity Performing Live at United Cafe’s Open Mic Night’s Thursdays at 8pm!
