The Fort Myers Derby Girls host their 3rd home bout of the season on Sunday, May 27th at Bamboozles Skating Center, 2095 Andrea Lane in Fort Myers. The Fort Myers Derby Girls will battle the River City Rat Pack from Jacksonville, Florida.
The team will be collecting donations for the ACT – Abuse Counseling & Treatment. ACT is in need of toiletries items which include full size shampoo / conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste / toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products and kids shampoo. For each item donated, you will receive 1 raffle ticket to be entered in a drawing to receive a special FMDG prize pack including tickets to the next home game and various FMDG merchandise along with giftcards to our local sponsors.
On Saturday, January 28th, the Ft Myers Derby Girls suffered their only loss to date in 2012, losing by approximately 60 points to the Jacksonville Roller Girls’ all-stars, the New Jax City Rollers. Since then, Fort Myers has tore off five wins in a row, defeating the Dub City Derby Girls, the Bradentucky Bombers’ Bomb Squad and the Nuclear Bombshells, Tampa Roller Derby’s Switchblade Sisters, and now the Lakeland Derby Dames.
But here comes the Jacksonville Roller Girls, looking to sweep the season series against their cross-state rivals. And here comes Fort Myers, riding a nine-bout winning streak at home, and looking for revenge for their only loss to date this year, and since 2007 Fort Myers has *never lost a bout at home in May*.
